Our Church
Sawtell Uniting Church is an active part of not only Sawtell village and its own small community (3,894 (2025 ABS est.)) – which was first lived on by European people in the late 1800s and gazetted as a town in 1927 after the railway line came through a few years before – but serves the wider district of Bonville, the three Boambee valleys, Boambee East, and Toormina communities. District pop. est. 20,000, situated between Coffs Harbour to the north and Urunga to the south.
Our Sawtell Church is a quite small but active Congregation. The congregation and visitors meet together, and centre our activities, in the multi-purpose building at 24-26 Elizabeth Street, Sawtell. We are again a fully lay led congregation.
We welcome all to our services or activities. In fact some of us have either moved in to the district in the last few years, and were visitors before that. We may have an insight into how you might find us.
If you come – Our Sunday services are informal, and varied, with come as you are dress code and sit anywhere you like in the seats as set-out, or grab one from the stacks. Make yourself known on arrival, or quietly take your place. Stay for a cuppa and chat if you wish.
There often will be a short message or reflection based on the bible and the Uniting Church calendar, the reading of bible verses appropriate for the message, and prayers for people and events. An offering basket is available to fund the church’s mission but do not feel obliged to contribute.
When we have holy communion, or sharing bread and grape juice with each other we do it in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice in dying for us. Do not feel you must participate if it doesn’t feel right for you.
[Note: Wellness: All are welcome, but with active respiratory infections (incl. RSV, Flu, Covid) still coming into our community this season please consider those at risk. Masks and sanitiser available, and well ventilated.]
